CiCloud is direct air-cooled and has a world-leading PUE of just over 1, making it up to 33% more energy efficient than the industry average.

Security and compliance

Businesses need to ensure that the Backup as a Service (BaaS) provider uses robust encryption algorithms, both at rest and in transit. In addition, the provider should comply with various data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA, depending on the nature of the business and its geographical location.

Reliability and recovery time

Businesses need to understand the reliability of the BaaS provider in terms of uptime, disaster recovery, and the speed at which data can be restored after a disaster. The Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) should meet the business continuity requirements of the company.

Cost

Cost is another critical factor. Businesses need to consider the total cost of ownership (TCO), which includes not only the cost of the service but also any costs associated with data transfer, storage overages, or data recovery.

Scalability and flexibility

As businesses grow, their data volume also increases. The BaaS provider should be able to scale as the business data grows. The service should also offer flexible plans allowing businesses to select and pay for only the necessary resources.

Support and Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Businesses should consider the level of customer support the BaaS vendor provides. This includes support availability, response times, and the expertise of support staff. Moreover, the SLA is crucial and should clearly state the service provider’s responsibilities, uptime guarantees, and compensation for any service disruptions or failures.
